Top 9 movies on Amazon Prime Summer of 2017

After a tiring day on the beach, it is always good to lie down in front of the TV with a good movie in the evening. Which movies are you gonna watch this summer? Here are nine suggestions from me to you!

In the summer you often spend money on hotels, restaurants, beaches and lots of ice creams, so why don’t you save some money and watch free content available with your Prime subscription as you look for something to stream online this summer?

There are quite a lot of great movies available on Amazon Prime, and here I will write about nine such movies. There are lots of great TV series as well, so if you want to find something that will really require lots of your time, then you should consider streaming one of the following TV series:

  • Catastrophe (an original Amazon series)
  • Mozart in the Jungle (an original Amazon series)
  • Mr. Robot
  • Bosch (an original Amazon series)
  • Sneaky Pete (an original Amazon series)

If I had to pick two of these series, I would probably go for Bosch if I wanted some action and a real cop TV series. If I were in the mood for something lighter, then Sneaky Pete is a mixture of a crazy guy who has quite a lot of bad habits, but still has a good heart somewhere deep on the inside.

But, let us forget about the TV series. Here are nine Amazon Prime movies that you can stream for free this summer with your subscription, recommended by me!

9 Movies to Stream on Amazon Prime this Summer

Manchester By The Sea

It feels kind of strange to start the list with this movie considering the fact that I do not really like the movie myself. But, when Casey Affleck received an Oscar statue for his performance in the movie, I totally agreed. Casey Affleck is playing his role in this movie in a  brilliant way, so my problem was first of all with the movie itself. It felt slow and depressed, but since that is what this movie really is about, then it is witnessing about my movie taste, and not about the actual quality of the movie. Check it out, maybe you will like it a lot!

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

I am a fan of the Mission Impossible series, and I do love the beautiful mixture of action and comedy at the same time. Ethan, played by Tom Cruise, is the super agent who makes my hand sweat as he does all his crazy stunts, and I simply enjoy everything about this action movie. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is best served with a bottle of cold Diet Coke and some popcorn.

Spectre

Have you seen the latest James Bond movie yet? I am not sure whether or not Daniel Craig has agreed to remain James Bond in future movies, so maybe this is his last performance as 007. In Spectre James Bond has to play against a criminal mastermind played by Christopher Waltz. I most admit that I have enjoyed the company of Christopher Waltz even more in other movies, but he still plays his part well in this James Bond movie.

Creed

Do you miss the good, old Rocky movies? Then you should stream Creed on Amazon Prime this summer. In this movie Sylvester Stallone returns to our screen, and this time he is out there to coach a guy named Adonis Johnson. This youngster is the son of Apollo Creed, a heavyweight world champion, but unfortunately the father died before his son was born. Now Adonis seeks Rocky for help to become what he is created for, a professional boxer.

The Dressmaker

I once started watching this movie, but I should warn you that it progresses quite slowly. Kate Winslet plays a role as a dressmaker who moves back home to her mother in a little village, in the middle of nowhere. She doesn’t have the best rumor in the village, and people actually say that she once committed a murder. That is however not a fact, but Tilly Dunnage (Kate Winslet) doesn’t know whether or not she committed a murder herself, but somehow she hopes to find out during her stay in town.

The Age of Adaline

If you do not like any of the movies on this list so far, then The Age of Adaline might be what you have been waiting for. Finally a romantic movie that is ideal for a couple to watch in front of the TV on a romantic evening. In this movie we meet a lady named Adaline who has stopped aging after being hit by a lightning. This comes with many blessings, but it also causes lots of trouble. For this reason she is hiding from people, and she is hiding from love. But, one day true love comes knocking at her door, but when she discovers who is the father of the boy knocking on her hearts door, that is when things get even more complicated.

Room

This list is not only on my list of movies to watch on Amazon Prime this summer, it is also on the list of movies that I am personally gonna stream on Amazon Prime this summer. I have in other words not seen Room yet, but I am really looking forward to doing so. In this movie we meet a mother and her 5 year old son who is locked up in a basement room made up of 10m2. The mother does everything in her power to create a beautiful imaginary world for her boy, but the real challenge comes when they one day escape only to discover the real world.

Me Before You

A recently paralyzed man played by Sam Claflin is looking for a maid or someone to help him out as he faces lots of new challenges. They have people applying for the job, but the real surprise comes when a girl played by Emilia Clarke starts taking care of him and an unlikely bond is created between the two of them. The movie has a nice 7,4/10 score on iMDB, and Amazon users have given it 4,5/5 stars. A combination of a nice, romantic and touching movie.

Iron Man

Do you like the Marvel world? Are you into cartoons? If your answer is yes to any of those questions, then there is a big chance that you will enjoy the Iron Man movie. This is the first out of three movies in the Iron Man series (with a new movie coming up in not so long). In the role as Iron Man we meet Robert Downey Jr., a very rich guy and successful business, not really caring much about others than himself and his business. But, then one day things change, and he starts fighting for humanity, against evil leaders and dictators. If you stream Iron Man (1) which is included with Amazon Prime, you can buy the rights to stream the second and third movie afterwards (as they are not included with your Prime subscription), or you can head over and stream those movies on Netflix.

  1. Hey there, why didn’t you include Moonlight on this list? If a movie wins an Oscar for “Best Movie”, shouldn’t it be on the list for the top movies to watch on Amazon Prime at the moment?

    1. Maybe you are right, but I am not a big fan of the movie, so I just skipped it… but if you make a list yourself, please include it!

  2. I have just watched Room now on Amazon Prime, and thought I’d just write a little comment to let you know how I liked it. I had great expectations to the movie, and as I finished the movie, I had mixed feelings. It was a fantastic story, and watching it was special, but it might be that my expectations simply were to high, and thus I did not get exactly everything I expected. The first part of the movie, in which they are captives in the Room, was not as intense as I expected it to, but it also made me feel captive and locked in… Not a good feeling, and I felt the eagerness to get out of this tight space.

The second part of the movie felt very realistic, and it must be a crazy feeling for the mother and for the son to get out… Especially for the son who has never met other people and has no clue what the real world is like.

I am not sure what I expected, but I feel as if I got it in most part… A movie well worth watching. Not the typical popcorn movie for a relaxing Saturday evening, but if you want to see a movie with something to say, this might just be it!

  3. It is so sad that Star Wars: Rogue One can’t be found on this list. It will arrive to US and Canadian Netflix in July, so why don’t we get it on Amazon Prime? That would for sure be a best movie to stream on Prime, but since it’s not there (and probably want come), I guess I will have to stream Manchester by the Sea instead. Looks a bit boring, but Affleck got an Oscar, so probably good!
