The ABC Murders on Amazon Prime

On February 1st in 2019, The ABC Murders starring John Malkovich in the role as Hercule Poirot was added to Amazon Prime. Have you seen it already?

The ABC Murders is an original BBC series that was shown on BBC in England in the very end of 2018. Now, less than two months later it can be streamed on Amazon Prime in the USA. It tells the Agatha Christie story of the ABC Murders, in a typical Hercule Poirot style. What does that mean?

If you are a fan of Hercule Poirot, you will for sure enjoy this. But, if you haven’t seen any single Hercule Poirot stories or movies before, you might be surprised at the speed in which things happen. This is not like a modern action movie in which you see things happening in every second. Instead, in The ABC Murders you will see everything happen in slow motion, and the high-pace viewer will probably get bored after a couple of minutes.

But, the patient viewer will enjoy the story as it unfolds and to see how Poirot will solve yet another case.

Is Poirot portrayed in the same way inn all versions of The ABC Murders?

One of my big questions as I watched this series was whether or not this is the way Poirot is portrayed in the original book, and also in the episodes in which David Suchet plays the role as Poirot? I have seen lots of original David Suchet Poirot stories, and they were all brilliant and enjoyable.

But, I was surprised to see how Poirot was treated like an old man with no respect, and how he often thought of himself in the same way. It felt like I was watching a Poirot in deep trouble. The most troubling of it all was the way he was looked down upon by the police and the police officer in charge (who continued the work of Japp). In reality, I know feel like as if I have to watch the original David Suchet version of The ABC Murders to see how it was portrayed there. Luckily, that isn’t hard to get done, as the original can be streamed on ITV in the UK right now. Would you like to watch it as well? Is The ABC Murders worth watching on Amazon Prime?

My personal opinion is that The ABC Murders is absolutely worth watching on Amazon Prime. It might be slow, it might be different from the rest of the Hercule Poirot episodes and movies you have seen, but it doesn’t make it worse or less interesting. I had a great time watching it, and I also enjoyed the role of John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot. As you might now, I am not very picky when it comes to movies, meaning that I also had a great time streaming The Murder on the Orient Express when it was shown in theaters last year.

And, if you have seen The Murder on the Orient Express, you also know that Death on the Nile will be recorded and coming to cinemas sometime in 2020, meaning that we have more Poirot stories to look forward to in the near future.

Are you are fan of John Malkovich as Poirot? I have read reviews saying that this is like watching Poirot without an actual Poirot in it (as John Malkovich doesn’t catch the essence of Poirot at all), while others praise him in his role and says that he has done a really good job.

I would love to hear all your thoughts about this!

Why do you want to get access to Amazon Prime?

There are so many advantages coming with an Amazon Prime subscription. Not only can you stream lots of Amazon original content, like Transparent and Orange is the New Black, but you can also watch other TV series and Hollywood movies, and awarded TV series like Mr. Robot. They are also producing more and more original content (just like Netflix), meaning that you get access to series just the Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, Mozart in the Jungle, Jack Ryan, and lots of others.

With your Amazon Prime subscription you can also listen to Prime music for free, you get free storage of photos online (an unlimited amount), you can download books for free every month, and you get access to the popular service named Prime Reading (where you can lend as many as ten books as the same time). I guess Poirot would have loved this service!

Coming to Amazon Prime February 2019

February will be a month for those who want to be nostalgic and watch very old movies on Amazon Prime. There will be some great original content coming as well.

As I looked through the list of movies and TV series coming to Amazon Prime in February 2019, it really hit me that there are lots of movies here from the 1910s, 1920s, and the 1930s. In other words, February will be a month for those who want to watch old movies over again, or who want to watch old movies that were created decades before they were even born.

Personally, I look most forward to the brand new Amazon Original series named ABC Murders by Agatha Christie. Yet again we meet Hercule Poirot, but this time it isn’t David Suchet who plays the character, but John Malkovich. You can watch the trailer right here.

There are some other great series of movies coming to Amazon Prime in February 2019 as well. Fans of the Matrix movies will for sure enjoy the arrival of all three Matrix movies, while those in love with Wayne’s World, will enjoy both Mike Myers movies. The original Blues Brothers movie will also come, so there will be snacks for everyone… but, first of all to those in love with old movies!
